Calculate Army Combat Fitness Test scores across all 6 events. Includes pass/fail by physical demand category, score breakdown, and training recommendations.
The Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT) Score Calculator computes your scores across all six test events — 3 Repetition Maximum Deadlift, Standing Power Throw, Hand Release Push-Ups, Sprint-Drag-Carry, Plank, and 2-Mile Run — and determines your pass/fail status based on your Physical Demand Category.
The ACFT replaced the Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT) as the official fitness assessment for all U.S. Army soldiers. Unlike the APFT, which tested only push-ups, sit-ups, and a 2-mile run, the ACFT evaluates muscular strength, muscular endurance, anaerobic power, aerobic endurance, and explosive power through six events scored on a 0-100 point scale each, for a maximum of 600 points.
Minimum passing scores vary by Physical Demand Category (Heavy, Significant, Moderate) reflecting the physical demands of specific Military Occupational Specialties. This calculator applies the appropriate standards, highlights events below minimum, identifies your weakest event for targeted training, and provides the full scoring reference table. Use the presets to see what maximum, good, and minimum-passing performances look like.
The ACFT scoring system is complex with six events each using different scales and units. This calculator instantly converts raw performance into point scores, determines pass/fail for your specific category, and identifies training priorities. Keep these notes focused on your operational context. Tie the context to the calculator’s intended domain. Use this clarification to avoid ambiguous interpretation.
Each event: 0-100 points scaled linearly between minimum and maximum raw scores Total Score = Sum of all 6 event scores (0-600) Pass: All events ≥ minimum for Physical Demand Category
Result: Total: 389/600, PASS (Moderate category)
All six events exceed the minimum required for the Moderate physical demand category. The weakest event was Standing Power Throw, which is a good target for training improvement.
The 3 Repetition Maximum Deadlift tests lower body and grip strength using a hex bar. The Standing Power Throw measures explosive power through an overhead backward medicine ball throw. Hand Release Push-Ups assess upper body muscular endurance with a brief floor release between reps. The Sprint-Drag-Carry combines agility, anaerobic capacity, and functional strength across five 25-meter shuttles with different tasks.
An effective ACFT training program should include 3–4 days per week of targeted work: heavy compound lifts (deadlift, squat, overhead press) for MDL and SPT, push-up volume and plyometric training for HRP, interval sprint training for SDC and 2MR, and dedicated core work (planks, farmer walks) for PLK. Periodize your training with 4-week mesocycles alternating strength and endurance emphasis.
The most common failure events are the 2-Mile Run and the Sprint-Drag-Carry. For the 2MR, implement a mix of long slow distance (3-5 miles) and interval training (400m repeats). For the SDC, practice transitions between movements and build anaerobic capacity with Tabata-style intervals. Many soldiers underperform on the Standing Power Throw due to poor technique rather than lack of strength.
3 Rep Max Deadlift, Standing Power Throw, Hand Release Push-Ups, Sprint-Drag-Carry, Plank (or Leg Tuck alternate), and 2-Mile Run. Each is scored 0-100 points.
Minimum scores vary by Physical Demand Category. For Moderate: 60 pts per event. For Heavy (combat arms): higher minimums around 70-80 pts per event.
The current ACFT uses tier-based standards by Physical Demand Category rather than age/gender-specific scales, though supplementary standards exist for record purposes. Use this as a practical reminder before finalizing the result.
The Plank replaced the Leg Tuck as the core endurance event. Soldiers perform a forearm plank with minimum time standards based on their category.
The ACFT is administered at least twice per year as a record test. Diagnostic tests may be given more frequently at unit commander discretion.
Scoring 540+ (average 90 per event) earns the ACFT Gold tab/recognition, signifying exceptional fitness above standard requirements. Keep this note short and outcome-focused for reuse.
