Volume = Length × Width × Thickness

Stairs

Each step is essentially a small slab:

Per step volume = Width × Tread depth × Riser height

Example: 4 ft wide stairway, 5 steps (11" tread, 7" riser)

Volume per step = 4 × (11/12) × (7/12) = 2.14 cu ft

Total for 5 steps = 10.7 cu ft = 0.40 cu yd

Plus the landing slab underneath.
